How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher ?  And how shall they preach unless they are sent?

As it is written:"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,  Who bring glad tidings of good things!"

 Rom 10:14-15

Life in Asia- Every day as I leave my front door, I encounter the most beautiful mixture of races, peoples, cultures and religions struggling through this life wondering the meaning of it. Unsure about what comes next, they struggle to fill their lives with things and their pocket books with treasure. Work is placed higher than family and religion as though their worth as a human is displayed in their portfolio. __________________________________________________________________ The Point Youth Club- Every Friday at 3:15 pm a group of about 12-18 kids storm the door of our building, making sure that it slams loudly as it shuts. They come down the stairs talking as loudly as possible then sit down in the hallway for about 20 seconds as they remove their shoes, as is “the Asian way”. _ _They then come into the room with another loud Greeting (changing their accent into an American style English), “Hey David, What’s up?” For the next few hours, they are at the Point, a comfortable place with food, wrestling and games galore and always a time to sit and talk about what is going on in their lives. Most of them have no adults that to listen to their thoughts or problems and help them to make wise decisions. -- - The Point is: to be a medium between the schools (where we cannot speak a word about God) and the church (where the kids are not allowed to go).

India Trip On September 8th, we are planning to go to Bombay (Mumbai), India for one week. My brother Aaron and his family have been working there for several years and have invited us to come and see the work they are doing. There will be opportunities for us to minister in the villages as well as to the local church where they work. The cost for all of us to go there flights plus Visas is $950usd. Please prayerfully consider helping us with this cost. I believe there is an appointment for us there. MOST importantly pray for direction, favor and safety as we go. India is a country that has been ravished for centuries by the effects of belief in 300million gods and the oppression that worshiping other gods brings. It is clearly spoken about in the Bible. There is great need there and we will bring the Hope of Life to the people there. Reading Suggestions 10 commandments - Exodus 20 (the first is a good one) Blessing/cursing - Deuteronomy chapters 28, 29, and 30 (Not for the faint in heart)

God is Here, Now Yesterday morning on my way to a men’s prayer walk in the jungles of Singapore, I thought I should get a snack before heading off, so I went to a little store nearby and got a bottle of water and a small bag of “curry-puffs”. These are some common pastries with curry sauce and potatoes inside. If you are lucky you may find an egg in them too. With curry puff and water in hand walking to catch my ride, I thought “I didn’t get a chance to pray this morning, or read my bible (like I should do before going on a retreat, right?). “Nah, we will pray enough on the walk”, I told myself. Just then, my soul responded, “that’s not good enough”. I stopped dead in my tracks looked up into the dark sky and with a few simple words said, “I love you Lord and thank you for this day”. Suddenly, I felt the presence of God all around me. I was moved to tears as the loving arms of the Eternal God embraced me. I could go on now. I try to remember that God is all around us, but I often become numb to that fact from the daily duties of life. When I acknowledge that He is present NOW, He responds in a tangible manor.

God-Daughter This week I met with one of the young girls that we have been working with in the schools since last year. In our conversation, she shared how she doesn’t have parents and has been living at the Buddhist temple since 4 yrs old. She said how she doesn’t know what it is like to go home to a father and mother and how she is jealous of all her friends with real families. As you may expect, my heart was broken. I told her “I will be your god-father”, with the intention of sharing the Father heart of God with her. She said, “but my name is too hard to pronounce” so we found a new name for her, Elisabeth. She said that it was too elegant for her. I said it was perfect.

Projected Work In Youth Church

For the next six months, we will be volunteering with a Youth Center as they go into the public schools helping the troubled youth of Singapore.

I have found four groups among them; broken or abusive families, language difficulties, learning disabilities and lastly som are intelligent but just don’t fit into the “program”.  They all need love and care to overcome the rejection they feel.  Pray the Lord will open their hearts to receive His love through us.

Brazilian meeting

For six weeks now, I have been discipling a group of Brazilians who all speak Spanish.  Two of them are professional Fut-bol (soccer) players and one lady works at the Brazilian Embassy.  I just found out that there are over seven-hundred Brazilians here in Singapore.  This group is hungry for the things of God.  As the Bible says, they will be filled.

Youth Club “THE POINT”

In preparation for the outreach to the public schools this month, we started a club at the “Youth Centre” (also our church). We call it “The Point”.    Yesterday, when I handed the students the invitations to “The Point”, they all said, WOW! This is Cool.  We believe this will be an open door to reach the school kids.

Update 07-10-08 - Wednesday, July 09, 2008

Work pass acquired

Bless God! After more than one year of trying and stress about how to continue the ministry here, I now am officially “working “ in Singapore.  Now for those of you don’t know how we work, we are more like “volunteers” than employees since our income comes from the God’s provision through willing hearts oversees.   The name of the church we work with is “Church Alive”.

Finally a place to live

After 6 months of being homeless with all of our Singapore belongings stored at a friend’s house, we are now living in our new place.  This apartment is government housing like our first place, but has been completely remodeled.   From inside, it looks like our condo that we used to have.  To complete the blessing, our owners are Christians, our realtor waived her commission of half-month’s rent and our movers only charged us a pizza party.

THE NAME - Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hollowed be your name

Your name is Holy The Name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are safe.

Ps 20

May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; 2 May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion;  3 May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice.

4 May He grant you according to your heart's desire, And fulfill all your purpose. 5 We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.

6 Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.

7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.  8 They have bowed down and fallen;  But we have risen and stand uprigh

New apartment - Thursday, July 19, 2007

New Apartment

We have just moved into a new apartment, opening up our old place for the students coming this summer.

Since moving in, we have met several families with children.  Emma has played a big role in opening the doors to speak to the people.  We are praying for further opportunities to share the gospel with them.

Bible Study

This week we are starting a new Biblle study in our home.  We believe it will open the door to mend the broken hearts of the people we meet.   Please pray with us as we begin this work.

Blessings,

David
